Pull out the Lederhosen, it’s time for Oktoberfest! The brewers at Lompoc Brewing are welcoming autumn with a release party for their fall seasonal Lompoc Oktoberfest. The gathering will take place this Saturday, Sept. 11 from Noon to 8 pm in the Lompoc’s Fifth Quadrant Brewery and inside the Sidebar tasting room, both located at 3901 N. Williams Ave. Staying true to the theme, the menu will feature a selection of German sausages with a variety of condiments/toppings. There will also be a traditional accordionist playing beer polka tunes from 2 to 5 pm. This event is for ages 21 and older.

Pale orange in color, Lompoc Oktoberfest is a Marzen Lager featuring a clean malt flavor artfully balanced by a touch of Perle hops. A portion of the grains used was roasted in the oven at Lompoc’s Fifth Quadrant restaurant, giving the beer a slight biscuity flavor. The beer is 5% ABV and 15 IBUs. Lompoc Oktoberfest will be on draft in all five of Lompoc’s pubs beginning Sept. 13.

Also on tap at Sidebar this weekend: Barrel Aged Boadicea – a blend of our Boadicea Strong Ale and Scottish ale that was aged in a bourbon barrel for 18 months. Sweet malty aroma with notes of vanilla and bourbon. Deep chestnut color. Tastes of vanilla and dark malts with a sweet woody finish. 8.4% ABV

Red Scare Imperial Red – this imperial red ale brewed with Nottingham ale yeast and is a certified malt bomb. Medium bodied with a deep crimson hue, Red Scare tastes of dark fruit with a light biscuit character. 9.5% ABV

Sockeye Cream Stout – this is a perfect stout! Roasted malt flavors with rich chocolate and coffee undertones combined with an addition of oats creates a lasting finish. 4.9% ABV

Centennial IPA – a classic Northwest IPA brewed with crystal malts that give it a rich golden color. Centennial hops provide a floral nose and sharp bitter finish. 6% ABV

2008 Brewdolph – this Belgian style red ale features a malty and creamy body. Brewed with the Belgian Ardennes yeast strain, it boasts a mild fruitiness and a spicy clove character. 7.9% ABV
