The Beer Report: Events for Jan. 7-11

itunes_imageEach week, I get a chance to talk about beer for about a minute on Saturday mornings on FM 101 in Portland. Here’s this week’s topic:

It’s just barely the New Year, but there’s already some great beer events coming up that are definitely worth checking out!

First off, later today at Belmont Station on SE Stark Street and 45th — you can meet Greg Koch, the founder of Stone Brewing out of San Diego! Stone Brewing has been on the forefront of the good beer movement for 15 years, and he will be signing copies of his book, The Craft of Stone Brewing Co., from 2-4 today at Belmont Station. They also will be pouring some Stone specialty beers for the occasion!

Then, on Tuesday, Belmont Station is hosting the founders of Vanberg & DeWulf, importers of Belgian beers for 30 years! Don Feinberg & Wendy Littlefield started the company 30 years ago and have been importing world class beers ever since will be here to host a tasting of some of their great artisanal beers.

And on Wednesday, Good Life Brewing from Central Oregon releases Scottish Heart Scotch Ale at the world famous Horse Brass Pub on SE Belmont & 45th! Scottish Heart is the first collaboration beer brewed exclusively by all Central Oregon brewers — made by Good Life brewer Curt Plants and 10 Barrel Brewer Tonya Cornett formerly of Bend Brewing. There will also be some other great central Oregon beers pouring to help celebrate including Bend’s Hophead IPA!
