Harry Goes To Beer Camp!

Sierra Nevada LogoMad props to Oregon’s own Harry Sanger, who won one of the coveted spots at Sierra Nevada’s Beer Camp, making him a Happy Camper, indeed.

You might recall that Sierra Nevada held a series of auditions, one in Portland at Belmont Station, and also asked for submissions on its website.

Harry is a former Rogue brewer, who moved to Oregon City with his delightful partner, Fay, to work at Fearless Brewing in Estacada. (Harry just wrote me to say that he is no longer with Fearless due to a Rugby injury, though.) Harry and Fay are both staples in the beer scene in and around Portland and the Pacific Northwest. Harry is the Northwest’s only representative at Beer Camp. He is very deserving for a spot, although I believe the winners all were based on their submissions, not their beery resumes.

Harry’s backseat beer rap (that’s Fay driving) garnered him a total of 26 votes in the online competition for Beer Camp. (The highest vote-getter was someone named Aaron Ford at 40 votes, the second-highest got 28 votes). Click the link to see Harry’s winning rap and watch all the winners.

Sometime down the road, Harry will have some of the beer he makes at beer camp for us to sample! That’s way better than making a pencil-holder or other camp staple.

Congrats, again, Harry. Well played!

But I couldn’t help posting a fun conversation we had about his new hair color — and what it’s all about. Details are right here.

Just to get you all started, the exclusive Beer O’Clock clue for Aug. 7 was:
