FredFest Worldwide Auction Launched!

Monday is Fred Eckhardt’s birthday, but you don’t have to wait until FredFest Monday night to help celebrate!

Once again this year, through the help of Matt Maples, we have assembled a small but mighty online auction of rare beers and verticals for your bidding. Matt has revived his Liquid Solutions Web site to help us out. (The site has been sold, so please do not group any other orders with your FredFest auction collections if you win.)

The auction launches today (Saturday) at 6 p.m. PT and closes Saturday, May 15 at 6 p.m.

Check it out: http://www.liquidsolutions.biz/home/auctions.asp

FredFest 2010 Nearly Sold Out!

Fred EckhardtThe littlest big beer festival in the world (or at least in Portland) is happening Monday, May 10 — Fred Eckhardt’s actual birthday! The Dean of American Beer writers will be turning 84, and FredFesters (hmm, that doesn’t sound right) will be celebrating along with Fred at the NEW Hair of the Dog Brewery and Tasting Room from 6-10 p.m. (Hey, it’s worth attending just to get a chance to check out Alan Sprints’ new pad!)

In fine FredFest tradition, there will be a big birthday cake, a round of Happy Birthday to Fred, tall-tale telling with Fred, Eckhardt-inspired food pairings with cheeses, chocolates, breakfast cereal and more. There will be a raffle, silent auction and a ton of fun. Oh, and of course, more than 15 amazing beers that brewers have kicked in just for the event.

Each year, FredFest benefits a nonprofit of Fred’s choosing; this year it is the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. After we clear our bills (and we try to get as much stuff donated as possible), every penny goes to this year’s nonprofit.

For more details, a peek at the ever-growing and -changing beer lineup, and to purchase tickets, head over to http://www.fredfestpdx.com

Fewer than 20 tickets still are available for this popular event, which strives to answer the eternal question: WWFD (What Would Fred Drink?) So act fast!
